About us

Hi! I’m Amy, and I started farming in 2022, after a 25 year career as a documentary film editor. I was craving more time in nature and less time in front of a computer, and I needed a new challenge.

After much searching I found half an acre of land I could lease, and started with six growing beds. I’ve since tripled that number and added a 180’ hedgerow, which serves as a wind barrier and home for wildlife.

I use regenerative, no-till practices to protect the long term health of the soil. All work is done with care and by hand.

Why the weird name?

Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in Maine, where I spent much of my childhood.

In Penobscot the name simply means ‘Great Mountain’. For me the mountain is not only where I spent some of my happiest days, it also represents a challenge undertaken, which is just what Katahdin Farm is.
